3 Factors To Be Considered When Designing Loading and Unloading Manipulator

The application of automatic loading and unloading manipulator has become increasingly popular in factories all over the world. With its guide rails mounted on load-bearing aluminum profiles supported by steel square tubes, this kind of manipulator can reduce the weight. The light weight and good rigidity of the guide rail aluminum profiles allow to use point supports with a large span.

As auxiliary equipment, the automatic loading and unloading manipulator is used to match with the principal machine, which determines that the following three points should be taken into account in the design of automatic loading and unloading manipulator.

1. Efficiency of cooperation with the principal machine
Several typical principal machines include injection molding machine, high-speed punching machine, and high-speed machining center, etc. The production efficiency of the principal machine is being improved due to technology advancement, so manual loading and unloading system is unable to meet the requirements and problems will be easily occur endangering personal safety. However, automatic loading and unloading manipulator can satisfy the requirements. The loading and unloading manipulator, a kind of auxiliary equipment, does not need the same precision as the principal machine. Speed is more important for loading and unloading manipulator, and it should be able to quickly feed and unload the principal machine automatically.

2. Installation
Solid mounting reference is often required for the principal machine. For example, the machining center should be installed on a mounting plane cast in concrete to ensure the high precision and stability of the machining center at high speed. The principal machine often already takes up a lot of space, so automatic loading and unloading facilities can only be installed on the support beam or aluminum profile by using the gantry structure, which avoids meeting the principal machine below. The support of the guide rail is point support, instead of overall support.

3. Stroke length
Automatic loading and unloading equipment is generally used to match more than one principal machines, so often the stroke of automatic loading and unloading equipment is several times the stroke of the principal machine. When the support of the guide rail is point support, and the stroke is very long, it’s obviously not a wise choice to choose ball guide rail, because inadequate rigidity and long stroke can hardly ensure high accuracy of mounting reference
